The word “grace” (Greek: Charis) is a specifically New Testament word! Grace is the gift of God which contains all other gifts, in essence, the giving of his Son (Rom 8:32). Grace characterizes the new order established by Jesus Christ, as opposed to the old “economy of salvation” which was governed by the Law. So the special NT meaning of “grace” is “a personal sharing in the death and resurrection of Jesus”.
