Description
The history of Salvation reveals Jesus as the face of the Merciful Father, to radiate whose mercy by liberating those imprisoned by chains of varied types was his prophetic mission. This mission which he put into effect on the Altar of the Cross and which he repeats time and time again on the Cross of the Altar constantly extends the Father’s invitation to fallen humankind to metanoia.
Against the background of the Jewish circumcision ritual and the Sinaitic covenant, the reader is led to reflect on the New Covenant, which issues a clarion call for the “circumcision of the heart” through the awe-inspiring teachings of Saint Paul. The book highlights the prophetic role of every Christian today, which is to reconcile, restore and renew society by waging a just battle against all emerging forms of exploitation. Further, both man and woman having been created in the image and likeness of God, the Word of God, which is foundational to the life and mission of the Church, serves as a solid rock which neither allows the Church to be shaken nor society to be forsaken.
